Youth Activities

Sunday School - Sundays at 9:30 a.m.
We have one class for our Youth Sunday School, including both Middle School students (6th - 8th Grade) and High School (9th-12th grade) students. We cover a range of topics, including books of the Bible and issues relating to their lives as teenagers. We have a rotation of teachers who are enthusiastic about leading these classes, as well as serving as excellent role models of Christian men and women for our young people. 
UMYF - Sundays from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
The UMYF meets on Sundays from 5:00-7:00 p.m. for dinner, Bible Study, and fellowship. We offer two classes during UMYF: one for Middle School students (6th-8th Grade) and one for High School and College students. Our ultimate goal is to create an environment where youth feel comfortable opening up, sharing their struggles and successes, and helping one another grow closer to Christ. Our program emphasizes discipleship, fellowship, and accountability... and also fun! After our study/discussion time, we always have time for games. These include board games, trivia nights, and (of course) running around the church like crazy people playing Sardines, Underground Church, and more. It's a blast! Join us as we grow in God's image and are strengthened by our faith through study, worship, service, and fun!
Special Trips and Activities
  • Mission Trip - Each summer the youth group participates in a week-long mission trip somewhere away from home. We've gone everywhere from Alabama to Virginia to Tennessee to Pennsylvania. Our service usually entails home repairs (painting, building ramps, replacing floors, and more). Check out the pictures from our 2015 mission trip below.   • Workday Wednesdays - We also participate in local mission projects in the summer. For a number of weeks in June, July, and August we gather on Wednesdays for a service project and fun activity in our own community. Click here to find out more about Workday Wednesdays.
  • Pilgrimage - The North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church organizes an amazing weekend for youth each November called Pilgrimage. The weekend is filled with great music, inspiring speakers, and a ton of fellowship time together. To learn more about Pilgrimage, click here.
  • 30 Hour Famine - Our group has participated in the 30 Hour Famine several times. We spend a few months raising money by asking people to sponsor us for the Famine; then, we join together to fast (go without food) for 30 hours. 30. Whole. Hours. The funds we raise are used by World Vision to create sustainable programs around the world to help those who are hungry. To learn more about the Famine, click here.
