At Englewood UMC, we believe that children are an important part of the family of God! Jesus tells us that we should look to little children as an example of the Kingdom of God, and that when we welcome children into our lives we're welcoming Jesus (Matthew 18:1-5; Mark 9:35-37; Luke 18: 15-17). We would love to welcome your children into our church, nurture them in the faith, and catch a glimpse of the Kingdom of God through them!
Children's Activities
Sunday School - Sundays at 9:30 a.m.
We offer 2 classes for children during the Sunday School hour.
Our Children's Sunday School Class is using a Sunday School curriculum that takes us on a journey through the Bible using Bible stories, arts and crafts, animated video storytelling, and active games. Together we'll discover what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ today! Our Sunday School leaders are devoted to helping your children grow in their faith and develop a close relationship with God and with one another.

Children's Church - Sundays from 10:45-11:30 a.m.
Children are invited to join us in worship for the first part of the service. We feel that it is important for our children to be part of the worshipping community, and for the church to see them and experience their joy and enthusiasm! We have a "Moment with the Children" about 10-15 minutes into the service, when children are invited to join us up front for a special time that is designed just for them! After this part of the service, children are invited to travel with us to the Children's Hall where we will continue worshipping and fellowshipping together in a way that is specific for their age level. We participate in activities such as music, crafts, Bible lessons, drama, and more! This program is open to all children ages Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Our younger children will also have fun activities in the Nursery during this time.

CAFE (Children And Families @ Englewood) - One Saturday each month at 10:00 a.m.
Our CAFE is one of the best things we do as a Children's Ministry!! One Saturday every month, our children and their families gather for a fun program that helps us grow TOGETHER. Our CAFE is designed for the children and grown-ups in each family to participate, so it's a great time for families to bond with each other and with other families too!
Each CAFE gathering has a specific theme, with a Bible lesson, crafts, games, and other activities that go along with it. We also have a service project at each CAFE, because we believe it's important to teach and model for our children about sharing God's love through our actions.
This program is open to ALL children and their families. We have toddlers through 5th graders playing, learning, and serving together - it's a beautiful witness of God's kingdom at EUMC! Our hope is that this monthly gathering will help strengthen our families and provide an opportunity for our children to develop deep relationships with God and with one another, building a foundation of faith that will last a lifetime.

- Easter Egg Hunt - We have an annual Easter Program in which children learn about the Easter story, do crafts, play games, and (of course) hunt Easter eggs! This event is usually the Saturday before Palm Sunday at 10 a.m.
- Vacation Bible School - VBS is the most exciting week of the year for our Children's Ministry! Using a new and exciting theme each year, we learn important lessons about our faith through Bible stories, games, music, science experiments, and more! We usually host VBS during the month of June.
- Art Camp - In July we host a wonderful Art Camp that encourages children to connect to the creative heart of God by exploring their own creativity. Children age 3 through 5th grade are welcome to participate!
- Trunk or Treat - We love inviting our whole community to join us for Trunk or Treat! The parking lot will be filled with trunks decorated for the occasion, and children and families can come to get candy, play games, and meet new friends.
- Christmas Program - Our Children's Ministry sponsors a family-based Christmas program each December for the whole church and others from the community to enjoy. This program is usually the second Sunday in December.
Safety Procedures
Safe Sanctuaries
Everyone who works in our children and youth ministries is required to go through this training, which involves a training session with a Safe Sanctuaries instructor, a background check, and a volunteer application. This training must be completed at least once every three years. It is our goal to make every experience our children have at church safe and nurturing.
