Welcome Home

about Englewood UMC's plan for reopening!

While we are so excited to begin gathering in person again, we want to urge everyone to proceed with caution and wise discernment. Church leadership is making decisions about reopening with the primary goal of keeping our church family safe and healthy, and we encourage each of you to make decisions about returning based on your own comfort level. Here are our plans for in-person gatherings at this time:

Updated Schedule for Small Group Gatherings

Our Sunday school classes and other small groups are continuing to gather in a variety of ways. All are welcome to join any of these groups for fellowship and spiritual growth! Here is the schedule for these small group gatherings:
  • Sunday at 9:00 a.m. - Koinonia Class (Zoom)
  • Sunday at 9:30 a.m. - Seekers Class (Room 206-207)
  • Sunday at 9:30 a.m. - Wesleyan Friendship Class (Room 201)
  • Sunday at 9:30 a.m. - Children's Sunday School (Children's Hall)
  • Sunday at 9:30 a.m. - Youth Sunday School (Youth Suite)
  • Monday at 10:00 a.m. - Aldersgate Class (Fellowship Hall)

Beginning July 4, 2021

We are now worshipping in the Sanctuary on Sunday mornings at 10:30. It's wonderful to be back in our Sanctuary for worship as a church family! We are continuing to livestream worship services on Facebook (@englewoodmethodist) and posting the services to our church website afterward (www.englewood-umc.com/view-worship-service). Below are the protocols for in-sanctuary worship beginning on Sunday, July 4, 2021:
  • We will not require you to make a reservation beforehand.
  • There will be no check-in process when you come to worship, and you can choose to sit wherever you would like. However, we ask that you be conscious of your distancing, both when coming and going and when choosing your seat.
  • Those attending worship who are fully vaccinated are not required to wear a mask while inside the building, but are welcome to do so if you feel more comfortable. For those who have not been fully vaccinated, we welcome you to worship but ask that you wear a mask while inside the building.

We're excited to see you in worship in whatever ways you feel safe and comfortable participating!

Beginning April 4, 2021

For the months of April and May Englewood UMC will resume outdoor worship on the Bell Tower Lawn. With so many of our friends and fellow members still feeling a bit uncomfortable about gathering indoors, and with the long anticipated break from the cold winter weather, we'll be worshipping God in the midst of Creation. What better way could there be to celebrate this Spring season together?! Because of our ability to distance outdoors, we will relax some of our guidelines for worship at these services:
  • Please be sure to wear your mask when walking to and from your vehicle to worship or when talking with your friends. However, once you're seated, you may remove your mask for our time of worship. This is a personal choice for you to make while remembering to "do no harm." We will still wear masks when inside the building.
  • We ask that you continue to practice social distancing and place your chairs at least six feet away from other seating groups.
  • You will not need to register for outdoor worship services, and we will not have a check-in process before worship.
  • If we experience inclement weather during any of our Sundays outside, we'll simply retreat indoors and follow protocols as currently in place (wearing masks, socially distanced seating, and temperature checks).
  • We will continue to livestream our services to our Facebook page for those who wish to participate from home.

We are so excited to see you, and we pray that as we move into summer more of our members will have time to be vaccinated and the jeopardy of meeting together will be even lower. The past five months of offering the opportunity for in-sanctuary worship have been a blessing. We are so fortunate that not a single outbreak from COVID-19 occurred as a result of our being indoors, and that we were still able to connect with our whole church family through online worship. Let's keep making wise decisions for the broader good of all, and together we'll continue to let Englewood be Englewood and, as always, give the glory and thanks to God.

Beginning November 29, 2020

On this First Sunday of Advent, the Sunday of Hope, Englewood UMC will begin offering the option for in-house worship in our sanctuary. We are excited about this opportunity to once again gather for worship in our traditional worship space, which is so holy and sacred to so many of us! However, this continues to be a time of concern about spreading the COVID-19 virus, as well as other illnesses that are common at this time of year, so we are asking for your support and agreement to follow the guidelines set out below for returning to worship.

EUMC's COVID-19 Response Team has developed this list of guidelines for returning to in-sanctuary worship on Sundays. These guidelines are believed to be the best way that we can gather in-person and keep all participants as safe as possible while we join together in worship. Please also view the following video to get an idea of what is expected when you come to worship on November 29 and moving forward.

Click here to register for worship each week. (Registering ahead of time will help us to prepare enough seating while maintaining safe distancing. Thank you for your help with this!)

Beginning September 13, 2020

Starting on this date, Englewood UMC will move from online-only worship services to in-person outdoor worship services on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. on the Bell Tower Lawn of the church. These services will be recorded and posted here each week for those who are unable to attend. We ask that those who attend these outdoor services bring your own chair, space yourselves out on the lawn to provide for social distancing, and wear your mask when coming and going and talking with one another. We look forward to seeing you for worship!

We are continuing to host gatherings for our small groups for Bible study, fellowship, and prayer!
View our schedule for small group gatherings below.

Beginning June 1, 2020

  • Worship services will continue to be posted online each week. Due to ongoing concerns about the safety of large group gatherings, we will not be gathering for in-person worship at this time. Find our online worship by clicking here.
  • Small groups will begin gathering for Bible study and fellowship at designated times in the EUMC Fellowship Hall. Each Sunday School class has a day and time for gathering, and we encourage everyone to participate in these opportunities, even if you haven't been part of a Sunday School class before.
Here is the schedule for these small group gatherings:
  • Sunday at 5:00 p.m. - Youth Group
  • Monday at 10:00 a.m. - Aldersgate Class
  • Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. - Seekers Class
  • Thursday at 4:30 p.m. - Wesleyan Friendship Class
  • Our Koinonia Class is continuing to meet via Zoom on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. All are welcome to join!

Safety Precautions

To ensure the safety and health of ALL members of the EUMC family, please adhere to the following precautions when attending gatherings at Englewood UMC for the time being:
  • Masks should be worn by all participations.
  • Social distancing should be observed. Everyone is expected to keep a space of at least 6 feet between unrelated individuals, and to refrain from "touching" behaviors such as hugging, handshakes, etc.
  • Access to the church facility is limited to the Fellowship Hall, the connecting hallway, and restrooms. Our cleaning crew will be cleaning and sanitizing these areas only before and after each gathering.
