Confirmation at Englewood UMC

Confirmation is a journey of discovering what our faith really means to us and how we can live out that faith most fully in our lives. This journey consists of a 10-week class (separate from our regular youth time), during which we will use the Colaborate curriculum to explore our faith together. We will also take a weekend retreat that will help to center and focus our hearts and minds as the process of Confirmation comes to a close and we embark on the lifelong journey of living as a follower of Christ.

Who can participate in Confirmation at EUMC?

Confirmation is open to all youth (6th grade - 12th grade) who have not participated in a Confirmation process before. (If you are an adult who is coming to the UMC for the first time, we encourage you to participate in our new members class!)

What will we do in Confirmation class?

• We’ll discuss the beliefs of the Christian faith in general and the United Methodist Church in particular,
  
• Learn the meaning of church practices like baptism and Holy Communion,
  
• Discover why the church was formed and the impact belonging to a faith community can have on our lives,
  
• And be paired with a Confirmation mentor who will guide us on our journey.
  

Who leads the Confirmation classes?

The majority of the Confirmation class will be lead by our Minister of Christian Education, Rev. Savanna Becker. Savanna will also lead our weekend retreat and arrange the pairing of Confirmands with their mentors. Our Senior Pastor, Rev. Terry Williams, will also participate in this process by leading some of the classes, praying for us throughout the process, and leading our Confirmation Service in worship on a Sunday morning. The Confirmands will also be guided by their Confirmation mentors, who will be prayerfully chosen based on their strong personal faith, engagement in the EUMC community, and heartfelt desire to positively impact our young people. 

How do I sign up for Confirmation?

If you or your child is in 6th - 12th grade and has not participated in Confirmation before, fill out the contact form below and we'll contact you about the dates of our next Confirmation class. We're excited for you to join us on this journey!
